Simple Happiness

Sometimes things like charging up the car or going food shopping become so monotonous. But…sometimes those little chores can put a little smile on your face. When you walk in the same grocery store that you go to several times before and one of the employees recognizes you and welcomes you back. Your first thought is “I come here way too much.” But then you realize that the employee most likely sees more than a hundred people a day when at work and remembered who you were.
We tend to look over the little things in life that may cheer us up. We, also, miss the fact a smile from us may cheer someone else’s day. As we remember the employees we see often at our favorite places, they remember us. How do you want to be remembered. My daughter and I go to the same place for breakfast when we charge the car. They say our order to us before we say it to them now. They even notice if we come in later than usual. We giggle to ourselves, but I honestly appreciate the kindness and the connection.
We shouldn’t be embarrassed that random people we see remember us and greet us with a hello and smile even if we don’t remember them. It just means we may have cheered them up one day. I personally think that being a kind and understanding even in the worse situations is important. You will get better service or treated better through the whole process and after. We all should treat others better than we treat ourselves. Then they will treat you better than you treat yourself.
So, when you go into your regular store and see the employees you see almost every time, give them a smile and wish them a great day. They may think you are weird because you beat them to it, but it’s a good weird. Spread the kindness. Take it from me who spent years working with people, nice people get treated better… the better item, the better room, and the better service.
