Stress!

“Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t” is from a candy bar advertisement, but it also fits us. Sometimes we feel we have it all together and other times we feel like we are going insane.  We alter from being clear headed to having a scatter brain.  It all depends on what we are going through.  How long you feel crazy depends on how you handle it.

When you are clear headed you feel like you can take on the world.  You go full force on the projects you are working on.  You feel put together and in charge.  These are the good times when you don’t feel like a nut. There is no pressure and you are organized.  There is no stopping you.

Then there are those times when you feel like you did something, but it isn’t done.  You have a distant memory of completing the task but have no proof.  You get confused and frustrated.  You feel your world is coming down on you.  You feel lost and just want to find a hole to hide in.  You want to give up.  These are the times you feel like a nut.  As you know these moments will pass and your head will clear up.

I personally feel like a nut more times than not.  I am horrible at handling stress.  I always feel like my brain is going to blow up.  What helps me is having a personalized notebook.  I make lists and make notes to keep track of what I did and did not do.  When working on the computer, I save what I do in files so I think I can’t lose them.  (However, sometimes I forget which file I save them in.)

We all have our own way of handling what the world throws at us.  I am sure some are healthier (physically and mentally) than others.  Stepping back from the problem, closing your eyes, and deep breathing while picturing something that you find calming is a good starting place.  If anything, this slows your body down.

Even at the times you feel like a nut, it doesn’t mean it’s time to give up or quit.  We all must push through and we will get through it.   Thinking about that candy bar slogan got me thinking about this.  But now writing this has me really wanting Mounds and Almond Joy candy bars.
