Colors of Inspiration

Updated: Jun 9

It’s kind of funny one of the questions people ask to get to know you is “What is your favorite color?”.  What does that actually tell you about a person?  It may tell you more than you think.  Recently I was asked what my favorite color was.  I had a quick response of blue and green.  I started to think what specific colors I liked and why.  The truth is I have several favorite colors for different reasons.

The exact colors I think of when I answer the question so simply are emerald green and sky blue.  Why those specific colors?  When I think of emerald green I think of majestic, graceful and success. When I think of sky blue, peacefulness and happiness come to mind.  These are qualities I want to have.  But these aren’t the only colors that I have as my favorites or that I see as important to me.

The other colors depend on my mood or feelings.  Red, for example… dark red to be specific.  This is my favorite not only because I look good in this color, but to me it resembles strength and power.  Red is my third favorite go to color.  And yes, when I am wearing red I feel like an unstoppable powerhouse.  The next color is royal blue.  To me this means understanding and fearless.  Even though gray is not a pretty color to me, it does have some importance to me.  Gray makes me think of clouds.  Clouds make me think of calmness especially when it storms or rains.

Most people have a color that attracts them, if they call it their favorite color or not.  There is usually a reason why a person likes the color if they know it or not.  It may have a special meaning to them or just there favorite color to wear.  It’s just interesting to me that out of hundreds of colors that are out there we pick only a few certain colors that attract us more than others.
