Some days it feels like you are thinking of a hundred things at one time. Other days you may feel like your mind is blank. And yet, there are days that you have a great flow on one thought. Last week I had a great flow going on a new book. This week it died. I always get nervous when that happens. What if I don’t get that flow back soon? Will I not finish the story?
We all have those days. You may be working on something for yourself. You could be working on something for a friend. Maybe you are doing something for work. No matter what it is, we get frustrated or stressed because we want to finish what we started. That thinking could go towards a lot of things, not just writing. It could go towards any project and any goal. The goal could be as small as watching a show you like before it is taken off of Netflix to being as big as building a house from scratch.
I find closing my eyes and breathing deep helps. It helps me forget where I am and what I am doing. (And sometimes I fall asleep). Once I open my eyes, I have a new mindset. Sometimes, I listen to music while doing this and I feel inspired. We all have our own way of handling the stress from trying to get stuff done. What is your way of getting refocused and eliminating your frazzled mind?
There are times when you just have to switch projects to get something done. I go from writing one book to continuing another. But I won’t deny it, sometimes I just need my brain to go numb. So, I will watch something I already saw on Netflix. This gives my brain some time to reset.
Others may take walks or talk to someone. Some bake or cook to get past their mental blocks. They find it gives them the energy to continue what they originally started. Do you ever have this issue? How do you handle it?
